So I find myself in a bit of a bind. I need to find a store manager for one of my stores. I never knew how hard it would be to find managers. Usually I just promote from within but it's just not an option right now. If you know anybody that is interested in a job as a retail store manager tell them to e-mail me at satyrnfive@gmail.com

Background: I own 2 comic & game stores in south eastern Virginia. I have been in business for 12 years now. Store #1 is what I started with, Store #2 has been around 3 years now. Both are doing well enough. Store #2 has a manager that is doing great. I currently run store #1. The problem is that I don't have quite enough time to handle everything anymore.

What I want: A person with retail or management experience. Preferably both. You also need to have:
  • Good people skills

  • Organization skills

  • Basic Understanding of computers and things like Microsoft Office (we use OpenOffice actually)

  • Upbeat personality

You don't need to have any experience with comics or games but it helps. As long as you understand the nature of fannishness you should be fine. You don't even have to have any crazy college degree. Age is not a matter either. I'm only 30 and all my employees range from 17 to 28. The manager of store #2 is only 21 or 22 I think.

The Perks:
  • You generally don't have to be at work till Noon each day.

  • Access to comics/games etc at roughly 45% off retail.

  • You get to meet all kinds of interesting people.

The position would be a salaried position with the expectation you'd work 45 hours a week average.

Now I regret that I don't live in the area, or I'd apply for the job myself. Not that I hate mine, but one of these days, I'm going to have to stop lifting all of those baby-unfriendly car parts.

It's almost enough to make me wish I still lived in that area. LoL. Working at a store like that would be entirely too much fun. It would be... like not working at all. Good luck finding someone.
